New Bedford Public Schools District: 78.6% of students graduated in 2022-23 school year

New Bedford Public Schools District had a 78.6% graduation rate during the 2022-23 school year, 3.5% higher than the previous school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 601 students who graduated in the 2022-23 school year, compared to 557 the year before.

New Bedford Public Schools District had the 23rd lowest graduation rate in the state.

New Bedford Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Bristol County and has a main office in New Bedford.

In 2024, public schools in Massachusetts boasted a graduation rate of 90%, according to Public School Review.

However, younger students' proficiency is still lagging behind pre-pandemic levels. NAEP results show that in 2022, less than 47% of the students were considered proficient in math and reading, with eighth-graders performing the worst, reaching only 35% proficiency in math.
