The ratio of students to teachers in Fall River Public Schools District rose by 3.1% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 10,268 students being taught by 764.3 teachers in Fall River Public Schools District, which covers schools within Bristol County and has a main office in Fall River. That's an average of 13.4 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Fall River Public Schools District had 9,998 students and 769.6 teachers on staff.

However, the state is facing a teacher shortage, just like the rest of the U.S. NewsNation reported that the state was offering emergency teaching licenses to educators who only had bachelor’s degrees, in an effort to get more teachers into schools.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.
