Dartmouth Public Schools District’s student-to-teacher ratio fell by 1.6% in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Dartmouth Public Schools District fell by 1.6% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 3,411 students being taught by 272.3 teachers in Dartmouth Public Schools District, which covers schools within Bristol County and has a main office in Dartmouth. That's an average of 12.5 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Dartmouth Public Schools District had 3,419 students and 269.5 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.
