Attention SNAP beneficiaries: As of February 2023, the extra COVID SNAP benefits, known as SNAP Emergency Allotments, will no longer be available due to recent federal legislation. You will receive your last payment on March 2, 2023. Starting in April, your household will receive only one SNAP payment, which is your normal monthly benefit amount. If you are unsure of your monthly benefit amount or need to check your balance, visit DTA Connect, the DTA Connect mobile app, or call the number on the back of your EBT card or the DTA Assistance Line at 877-382-2363. Don't forget that unused SNAP benefits roll over from month to month and can be used for up to 274 days. If you want to get the most out of your monthly SNAP benefits, reporting certain costs may cause your SNAP benefits to go up. Eligibility to have these costs counted varies, so check out the information on DTA Connect or call the DTA Assistance Line for more information.
The state has launched a new website: Mass.gov/ExtraCOVIDSNAP to help residents plan for the end of these temporary federal benefits. Over the next several months, individuals and families should explore any optional expenses that may increase their regular SNAP benefits, including:
• If they have medical costs over $35 a month for anyone in their SNAP household who is 60 or older or has a disability,
• If their housing costs have gone up (rent/mortgage), and
• If one is working, looking for work, or in school, tell DTA about any child or disabled adult care costs.
