UMass Dartmouth Cybersecurity Center recognized

UMass Dartmouth's Cybersecurity Center was recently recognized with a certificate of designation from the National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) during the Northeast Regional Hub Town Hall & NCAE-C Designation Ceremony. The event was held in Annapolis, Maryland at the United States Naval Academy on April 25 and 26, 2022.

The certificate was accepted by Dr. Gokhan Kul, assistant professor of Computer and Information Science and associate director of the Cybersecurity Center at UMass Dartmouth. Lynne Clark, Chief of the National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Program office and Center for Education, Innovation and Outreach, National Cryptographic School at the National Security Agency, presented the award.

In October of 2020, UMass Dartmouth was designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Research by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. The University received this prestigious classification through the demonstrated success and commitment to preparing students to address national challenges related to cybersecurity as well as advanced faculty research in the field. Only 79  institutions in the U.S. have earned this distinction.
