FALL RIVER, MA - On Friday, June 2nd, 2023, the City of Fall River announced the opening of the new Pickleball and Tennis Court Complex at Kennedy Park. The Complex includes two brand new Pickleball courts and two brand new Tennis courts.

In 2021, Fall River received a grant for park improvements from the Baker-Polito Administration. The decision to use the grant money towards Pickleball courts came from the increasing popularity of Pickleball across the South Coast and the nation. The project was a collaboration between The City of Fall River, Mike Dion from the Community Development Agency, Board of Park Commissioners, and the City Council.

Mayor Coogan is working with the Park Board and local Pickleball coordinator, James Crosson, to coordinate Pickleball clinics and tournaments in the City. This will give residents a chance to learn about the game so that they can feel confident using the courts. This is part of an ongoing effort to improve facilities for recreation in our parks.

“You will see continued improvements in the Parks. We are looking at things every day to make them better and more family-friendly,” said Mayor Coogan at the press conference on Friday.

The Complex is now open to the public. Further information about clinics and tournaments will be released when dates are finalized.
