Wheaton College (Mass.) softball player Bryanna Agan (Averill Park, N.Y.) was named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Softball Athlete of the Week for the week of March 20-26, it was announced today by the NEWMAC.

Agan becomes the first Lyon to earn a weekly NEWMAC honor in softball since Danielle Cimino was tabbed the Pitcher of the Week on April 10, 2017 and the first position player to be selected since Caroline Fairbanks on April 11, 2016.

In Wheaton's only two games of the week, the junior was 5-6 in a double-header with visiting University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to post a torrid .833 batting mark, while clubbing three doubles to contribute to a 1.333 slugging percentage and being issued a walk for an .857 on-base mark as part of a 2.190 OPS. The second base also knocked in a pair of runs and scored a run. Agan registered the first four-hit outing of her career, going 4-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and a run scored in a game one win vs. the Corsairs. She came back in game two to reach base in two of three plate appearances, going 1-2 with a double and a walk.

A graduate of Averill Park High School, Agan has been one of the best hitters in the league this season, ranking among the top 16 in eight different categories. She is 14-33 on the season to register a .424 batting average to place 14th in the NEWMAC, while ranking fifth in doubles with four, fourth in triples with one and ninth in slugging percentage with a .606 mark. Agan owns a season OPS of 1.050 to stand 16th and is 14th in hits with 14, 15th in total bases with 20 and 16th in runs batted in with eight. She also has a .444 on-base percentage, three runs scored and a stolen base. The Business major has registered four multi-hit efforts and knocked in two or more runs on three occasions. She is currently riding a four-game hitting streak, batting .615 (8-13) during the stretch and has struck out just four times in 37 plate appearances.

For her career, Agan has played in 40 games, while batting .260 (27-104) with 15 RBI, 10 runs scored, five doubles, a triple and a stolen base.

The Lyons are currently 8-4 on the season and will be in action again tomorrow when they host Bridgewater State University for a twinbill at 3:00 p.m.
