Wheaton College (Mass.) women's lacrosse player Brooke Harvey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week for the week of March 20-26, it was announced today by the NEWMAC.

Harvey is the fourth Lyon this season to earn a weekly lacrosse honor from the NEWMAC. Senior Emily Oundjian (Longmeadow, Mass.) and junior Avonlea LeBeau (North Branford, Conn.) were both recognized for the week of February 20-26, while sophomore Lara Finnie (Westfield, Mass.) was tabbed for the week of March 7-13. Harvey earns the offensive award for the first time in her career, but is the first player in school history to earn both the Defensive and Offensive Athlete of the Week accolades after being named the top weekly defensive player last season for the week of March 7-13.

In two matches, the senior was prolific with 17 points on 10 goals and seven assists to go with 12 draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers. The attacker needed just 15 shots to tally her goal total for a 66.7 shot percentage. Harvey tallied at least eight points in both matches and was almost automatic in free position opportunities, going 5-6. She opened the week with eight points on four goals and four assists in addition to seven draw controls, three ground balls and a trio of caused turnovers vs. visiting Keene State College in a 21-4 victory on March 22. The Quad-Captain capped the week with a career-high nine points, including a personal-best six markers and added five draw controls and a pair of ground balls  in a 23-6 win vs. Wellesley College on March 25.

Harvey has been one of the best all-around players in the league all season, starting all eight games for Wheaton. She ranks sixth in the conference with 4.38 points per game over eight contests to give her 35 for the season, while standing eighth in the NEWMAC with 2.75 goals per match for a season tally of 22. The Cape Elizabeth High School graduate also places seventh with 1.63 assists per game for a total of 13 and is fourth with 5.13 draw controls per game for a total of 41. She is the only player in the conference to rank among the top eight in goals, assists and draw controls per game. Harvey has tallied at least one point in every contest this season and has multiple points in seven of eight matches. Not to be outdone, she also ranks second on the team with 11 caused turnovers and 17 ground balls and has converted seven goals on 11 free position opportunities.

In 34 career matches, the Business and Management major has racked up 93 points on 57 goals and 36 assists to go with 147 draw controls, 82 ground balls and 45 caused turnovers. Harvey registered 87 draw controls last season for the second-highest total in school history and currently ranks fourth on the all-time career list.

Wheaton is currently 6-2 on the season, including 2-0 in league play and will be in action again on Wednesday, March 29 when it travels to Worcester, Mass. to play Worcester State University at 5:00 p.m.
