D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced their annual all-region selections Tuesday, which saw Keene State senior forward Jeff Hunter named the 2022-23 Region 2 Player of the Year by both organizations. Keene State head coach Ryan Cain was named the NABC Region 2 Coach of the Year.

Named the 2022-23 LEC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, Hunter started all 30 games and had 24 double-doubles, averaging 18.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.8 blocks per game for the Owls. He is the first-ever Keene State player to be named the LEC Defensive Player of the Year in the same season.

Hunter was joined on the D3hoops.com and NABC All-Region First Team by teammate Octavio Brito. The sophomore guard Brito started 29 of 30 games this season, leading the Owls in scoring at 20.4 points per game, with 6.7 rebounds and shooting 44.1% from three point range and 75.8% from the foul line.

Cain, who was also named the LEC Coach of the Year, guided the Owls to an overall record of 28-2 on their way to capturing the LEC regular season and tournament championships. They won the NCAA Division III Regional hosted on their home court, posting an 89-78 win over Baruch and a 77-72 victory over Tufts, before bowing out of the tournament in the Sweet 16 at Swarthmore.

Western Connecticut’s Kendall Robinson was named a Second Team All-Region selection by both organizations. The senior guard led the Wolves in scoring and rebound, averaging 19.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest to go with 43 assists, 30 steals and 29 blocked shots.

UMass Boston’s Malik Lorquet was named a Second Team All-Region selection by D3hoops.com. The senior forward finished the season with 22 double-doubles, which led all of the NCAA Division III men's basketball heading into conference tournament play, and finished the year averaging 18.9 points and 13.4 rebounds per contest.

Both organizations are expected to announced their respective 2022-23 All-America teams in the coming days.
