With a fourth-place finish in the regular-season standings, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team is set to host the first round of the Little East Conference (LEC) Tournament for the first time since 2018.
The Corsairs, who finished 11-5 and 5-3 in the conference are set to take on fifth-place Plymouth State at the Lakeville Tennis Club at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers closed the year with a 6-6 record and 4-4 in the LEC.
In the regular season meeting between the teams on Sept. 24, UMass Dartmouth came away with a 7-2 victory. Juniors IsaBella Winter and Ailey Riddick defeated Plymouth's Megan Marshall and Tessa LaBarre in first doubles, while senior McKenzie Ferrari and junior Caroline Lemieux took down Sarah Asciutto and Erin Good in third doubles.
Coming away with singles wins were Winter, sophomore Zuri Walters, senior Alanna O'Connell, Riddick and freshman Bailey Clarke.
On the season, the doubles team of Winter and Riddick went 12-3. Winter was also 14-2 in first doubles, while O'Connell finished 13-3, including an 11-1 record in the No. 4 position. Also with winning records were Clarke (11-5) and Walters (8-4), while Riddick and Yang each won seven singles matches.
The winner of Tuesday's match will move on to face top-seeded UMass Boston in the semifinal round.
