UMass Dartmouth Drops First Match of 2022 to Salve Regina

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season, 7-2, at the hands of Salve Regina Wednesday afternoon at the UMass Dartmouth tennis courts.

Coming away victorious for the Corsairs were the first doubles team of juniors IsaBella Winter and Ailey Riddick, who battled to win their match, 8-6. Senior Alanna O'Connell was also able to come away with a win in fourth singles, beating her opponent, 6-2, 6-2.

The doubles team of senior McKenzie Ferrari and junior Caroline Lemieux were competitive and brought the match to extra points, while Riddick forced her singles match to a third set.

Head Coach Doug Chapman on the match: "It was a tough day at the office. There were several rain delays and we never seemed to develop any rhythm. Salve exploited a few things that we can work on. Overall, there are things that we can work on, and be better at. The doubles were all close, if had we gone up 2-1 instead of down, it might have helped us find a rhythm for our singles matches."
