Safe Routes to School Public Hearing

On September 15th at 7 pm, the Town of Fairhaven Public Works Department and the State of Massachusetts will be hosting a Public Hearing to provide/inform the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Sconticut Neck Road Improvements.

All views and comments made at the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

The project proposes to reconstruct Sconticut Neck Road from approximately 350 feet north of David Drown Boulevard to the Leroy Wood Elementary School. The improvements are intended to provide enhanced pedestrian safety and mobility and improved bicycle accommodation with specific emphasis on safe access to the Leroy Wood Elementary School.

Improvements include new sidewalks and curb ramps for pedestrian accommodation meeting ADA/AAB requirements as well as striped bicycle lanes on both sides of Sconticut Neck Road.

To attend the meeting, please access the link on the attached MA DOT Flyer and scroll to Fairhaven’s project on September 15th.

A copy of the 25% design plans are also available in the attachment.
