Sophomore Cameron Rodgers and freshman David Bennett of the University of Massachusetts men's track & field team are on their way to the NCAA Division III Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Both finished the year in the top 20 of their respective events to advance.
From Fall River, Mass., Rodgers makes his second-straight appearance at nationals in the 400-meter hurdles. Rodgers has the 13th best time in the nation (52.95), which he achieved on May 13 at the NEICAAA Championships at Bryant University. Last season Rodgers finished third in the event with a time of 53.01.
A native of Newton, Mass., Bennett made the most of his first season with the Corsairs, qualifying for NCAA's in the 400-meter dash with the 13th best mark in the country (47.57) at the NEICAAA Championships. Bennett has gotten better in the event as the season has gone on, breaking his own program record five times.
