Juniors Andrew Bryant and DJ Perron, and sophomore Jared Neikam of the the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth baseball team have been named All-Little East Conference (LEC), announced on Tuesday after the Corsairs advanced to their third championship game appearance in the past five seasons.
Bryant was named to the Second Team, while Perron and Neikam collected Third-Team honors.
ANDREW BRYANT - SECOND TEAM ALL-LEC
Bryant was the most dangerous with the bat this season, leading the Corsairs with a .415 batting average, which ranks fourth in the LEC, 11 home runs, which is first in the conference, 34 runs scored, a .680 slugging percentage, and a .482 on-base percentage. Bryant ranked second on the team with 34 RBI, struck out the least (14), and stole six bases. A two-time LEC Player of the Week, Bryant crushed two home runs in the season opening series at Farmingdale State (2/27) and kept up that pace all year. Bryant went on a 24-game hitting streak beginning at Wheaton College on March 27 and delivered every game up to the LEC semifinal round against UMass Boston on May 13. A Canton, Mass. native, Bryant's second Player of the Week honor came on May 9 after going 9-for-15 for a .600 batting average with two home runs, four RBI, and eight runs scored with a double for the week, including a 5-for-5 performance at the plate at Keene State.
DJ PERRON - THIRD TEAM ALL-LEC
Earning his second All-Conference honor, Perron hit .366 and led the Corsairs with 50 RBI, which is tied for third in the conference, 13 doubles, and three triples. From Swansea, Mass., Perron finished second on the team with nine home runs, 30 runs scored, a .671 slugging percentage, and a .407 on-base percentage. Perron's power came alive late in the season, he hit five of his nine home runs in the final eight games of the season, including three in the LEC Tournament to lead UMassD to the championship game.
JARED NEIKAM - THIRD TEAM ALL-LEC
A Division II transfer from Stonehill College, Neikam had a tremendous first season at UMass Dartmouth. The sophomore was third on the team with a .314 batting average, finishing tied for second with nine doubles, and added two home runs and 16 RBI. A native of Bedford, N.H., Neikam finished the year with 12 multi-hit games and three games with three hits. Neikam's two home runs came against Castleton (4/15) and Plymouth State (4/30).
