Innovation: 3 patents granted in Fairhaven in week ending June 27

There were three patents granted in Fairhaven in the week ending June 27, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is two more than the week before. Patents included a buoyant, high coefficient of restitution (cor) golf ball having a reduced flight distance yet the perceived flight trajectory of regular distance high cor golf balls.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending June 27 belonged to Acushnet Company who filed in June 24, 2019.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
