The Stonehill Skyhawks women’s track and field team began their 2026 season at the URI Invitational in Kingston, Rhode Island, on January 17. The event featured several notable performances from both underclassmen and upperclassmen.
Senior Emily Young secured first place in the mile with a personal best time of 5:06.01. Junior Madison Stott finished third in the 400 meters, recording a time of 59.79 seconds. Senior Grace Tyrrell also competed in the 400 meters, finishing sixth with a time of 1:00.35.
Freshman Isabella Galusha placed third in the 800 meters, clocking in at 2:17.57—just half a second behind the runner-up. Other strong showings in the 800 meters came from freshmen Sophia Adams (2:26.83) and Kate Littler (2:29.63), as well as sophomore Rachael Korowski (2:29.43), all achieving collegiate best times.
In the sprints, freshman Isabella Fiore posted a college best by finishing eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.53 seconds. Freshmen Madeline Haher and Abigail Haeusgen set personal records in the 400 meters with times of 1:03.28 and 1:05.06, respectively.
Distance events saw sophomores Mallory Hildreth (5:12.05) and Iasmim Desousa-Vieira (5:23.07) achieve collegiate bests in the mile, while freshman Jayden Donnelly was Stonehill’s top finisher in the 3000 meters, placing seventh with a collegiate best of 10:31.62. Sophomore Emily Weigle also recorded her fastest collegiate time in that event at 11:33.07.
Sophomore Aly Bassett ran her fastest college time of 8.41 seconds in the 60 meters sprint event.
In field events, sophomore Makenna Dube finished fourteenth in shot put with a mark of 10.38 meters and twenty-first in weight throw at 10.46 meters.
Stonehill is scheduled to compete next at the MIT Invitational on Saturday, January 24.
