The Stonehill College women’s hockey team played to a 2–2 draw against Sacred Heart University at Martire Family Arena on Saturday, before losing 1–0 in a shootout. The result brings Stonehill’s record to 11–11–2 overall and 11–5–2 in the New England Women’s Hockey Alliance (NEWHA), while Sacred Heart moves to 5–17–2 overall and 4–12–2 in conference play.

Stonehill recorded 49 shots on goal compared to Sacred Heart’s 37, but the Pioneers led in faceoffs, winning 43 out of 72. Junior Peyton Wise scored her fourth goal of the season for the Skyhawks, assisted by senior Gracie Sacca. Sophomore Reagan Whynot added her seventh goal, with seniors Bailey Feeney and Lily Geist each providing an assist. Senior goaltender Eve Stone made 35 saves, marking her fifth game this season with at least that many stops.

Stonehill opened the scoring early in the first period when Sacca set up Wise for a goal just over three minutes into the game. Despite generating more shots and earning a power-play opportunity in the second period, Stonehill could not extend its lead.

Sacred Heart tied the game early in the third period through Peyton Bennetts. The Skyhawks regained their advantage less than three minutes later with Whynot’s goal off a rebound. The Pioneers equalized again at 12:49 with an unassisted breakaway by Hailey Jussila.

Neither team scored during overtime, leading to a shootout where Sacred Heart’s Campbell Heger secured the win by scoring in the second round. Goaltender Jillian Petruno stopped all three Stonehill attempts from Maddi Achtyl, Bailey Feeney, and Reagan Whynot.

Stonehill will return to play next weekend, hosting LIU for a two-game series at Bridgewater Ice Arena starting Friday at 6 p.m.
