Senior forward Maddi Achtyl of the Stonehill College women’s hockey team has signed with Linköping HC, a club in Sweden’s top-tier women’s professional ice hockey league, according to an April 14 announcement.
Achtyl’s move marks a significant step for both her career and the Stonehill program, as she transitions from collegiate competition to play in the Swedish Women’s Hockey League (SDHL).
“It’s fantastic to see Maddi sign with Linkoping,” said head coach Lee-J Mirasolo. “Coming off of her most productive season as a Skyhawk, we are looking forward to following along as she continues to enhance her game at the next level. There is no doubt that Maddi will make a splash in Sweden.”
Achtyl served as an assistant captain during the 2025-26 season and leaves Stonehill as its all-time leading scorer. Over 143 games, she recorded 83 points on 53 goals and 30 assists, including notable contributions such as 11 power-play goals and 11 game-winning tallies. In her senior year, Achtyl posted career-best numbers with 26 points from 18 goals and eight assists. She was recognized twice as NEWHA Player of the Week and earned selection to the NEWHA Second Team.
Linköping HC finished ninth in SDHL standings for the recent season, collecting a total of 30 points.
The signing highlights opportunities for American collegiate players seeking professional careers overseas while also reflecting positively on Stonehill College’s growing presence in women’s ice hockey.
