The Stonehill College equestrian team concluded its regular season on March 11 at the UConn Doubleheader Home Show, where the Skyhawks achieved 16 top-three finishes and saw four riders qualify for the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Regional Competition.
This performance marks a significant achievement for the team as it heads into postseason competition. The strong showing included first-place results and multiple qualifications for upcoming regional events.
Nora Fitzgerald and Shay Callanan led Stonehill in the Blue Show, each earning first place in limit flat and limit fences, respectively. Cora Cotman secured second place in both open flat and open fences divisions, while Elizabeth Carreiro finished as runner-up in intermediate flat. Piper Olenn and Alyssa Douglas rounded out the top three finishers in their respective categories. Other notable performances included Lauren Eager, Carissa Muller, Michaela der Kinderen, and Nicole Irons placing fourth in their events, with Irons making her debut in limit flat. Rosalie Martin and Jocelyn Plumpton completed the Blue Show lineup by finishing fifth in limit fences.
In the White Show segment of the doubleheader, Eager was named Reserve High Point Rider after winning intermediate flat and taking second place in intermediate fences. Martin also earned a first-place ribbon in limit fences. Cotman continued her strong performance with two more top-three finishes in open division events. Callanan and Shannon Murray each took second place in limit fences, while Muller and Douglas placed among the top three finishers as well.
Four Stonehill riders—Callanan, Martin, Carreiro, and Cotman—qualified for IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 competition across various divisions including limit, intermediate, and open categories.
Looking ahead, Stonehill will compete next at the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 Championships scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at Mount Holyoke in South Hadley.
