The Stonehill College baseball team lost its final midweek game of the season to Bryant University on May 12 at Conaty Park. The Skyhawks dropped to a 19-27 overall record, while the Bulldogs improved to 27-22.
This game marks the end of Stonehill’s non-conference schedule for the season. Both teams used this matchup as an opportunity to prepare for their remaining conference games.
Juniors Ryan LeClair and Nathan Kearney extended their on-base streaks to 41 and 38 games, respectively. LeClair also recorded his team-leading tenth stolen base of the year. Freshman Tyler Redden led Stonehill’s offense, going one-for-two with a run batted in. Junior John Bureau reached base for his twelfth consecutive game and scored Stonehill’s only run of the afternoon. Senior Jake Lanzer matched a game-high with three strikeouts over one and one-third scoreless innings in relief.
Stonehill took an early lead in the second inning when Bureau walked, advanced on a single by Kacin Robinson and a groundout from Brayden Rader, then scored on Redden’s RBI single down the left field line. However, Bryant responded by limiting Stonehill to just one hit over the final five innings while scoring eleven unanswered runs, resulting in an 11-1 victory for Bryant after seven innings due to the run rule.
Looking ahead, Stonehill will return to Northeast Conference play this weekend as they host Norfolk State University at Lou Gorman Field for a three-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
