Stonehill College has announced the addition of men’s golf as its 25th varsity sport, with competition set to begin in the 2027-28 academic year. The move will make Stonehill the 12th member of the Northeast Conference (NEC) to sponsor a men’s golf program, joining schools such as Binghamton, Howard, and Wagner.

“We are delighted to announce Stonehill College’s addition of men’s golf for the 2027-28 season,” said Dean O’Keefe, Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics. “With the College’s recent announcement of the purchase of the Easton Country Club, Stonehill continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing the best opportunities and experiences for its student body, and in particular, its student-athletes. The addition of men’s golf as an NEC sport will help us attract quality prospective student-athletes, as we remain dedicated to excelling at the Division I level in all of our sports.”

Earlier this year, Stonehill revealed it had agreed to acquire Easton Country Club, a 150-acre golf course located in Easton. This acquisition is expected to support both current and future athletic programs.

Men’s golf becomes the second new varsity Division I team added by Stonehill this academic year. Previously, men’s swimming & diving was introduced for competition starting in 2026-27.

With these additions, Stonehill now sponsors 25 varsity athletic programs at Division I. Of those teams, 22 compete within the NEC. The college’s equestrian team participates in competitions organized by the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA), while women’s ice hockey competes in the New England Women’s Hockey Alliance (NEWHA). Men’s ice hockey remains an independent Division I program.
