The Stonehill College baseball team lost to UMass Lowell, 20-10, in a non-conference game at LeLacheur Park on April 14. The Skyhawks’ record dropped to 13-18, while the River Hawks improved to 14-18.
The game was marked by early scoring from UMass Lowell, which took a six-run lead after two innings. Stonehill responded with three runs in the third inning but could not overcome the deficit as UMass Lowell added five more runs in the fourth and continued to score throughout the game.
Graduate student Sam Parks had three hits and two runs batted in for Stonehill. Junior Nathan Kearney extended his on-base streak to 23 games with three hits, including a double, one RBI, and three runs scored. Freshman Jackson Enders hit his first collegiate home run and drove in four runs. Junior Jamison Howland recorded his eighth multi-hit game out of his last nine appearances. Freshman Tyler Redden achieved his first career extra-base hit with a double and an RBI. Junior Ryan LeClair extended his team-leading on-base streak to 26 games.
Freshman Felix Stork led Stonehill’s bullpen efforts by pitching nearly three scoreless innings of relief. Despite narrowing the gap several times—highlighted by Enders’ three-run home run off the left-field foul pole—the Skyhawks were unable to catch up after UMass Lowell scored seven runs in the eighth inning.
Stonehill will return to league play this weekend when they host Wagner College for a three-game series at Lou Gorman Field.
