The Stonehill College baseball team finished its four-game series at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) with a 7-0 loss on Sunday in Lexington, Virginia. The defeat leaves the Skyhawks with a 1-10 record for the season, while VMI improved to 10-2.

Junior Jamison Howland led Stonehill offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate and recording his first multi-hit game since joining the Skyhawks. Juniors Nathan Kearney and Eisig Chin also had multi-hit games, with Chin extending his on-base streak to six consecutive games. Sophomore Will Newton continued his consistent performance by increasing his hitting streak to five games after a 1-for-4 showing.

Freshmen pitchers Felix Stork and Sean Connolly started strong for Stonehill, combining for five strikeouts over the first two innings without allowing a hit or run.

VMI opened the scoring in the third inning when Grayson Fitzwater hit a two-run home run to right field. Later in the same inning, Cole Raile drove in another run with an RBI single, making it 3–0. In the fourth inning, Thomas Conrad added an RBI double that brought home Cole Cook.

The Keydets extended their lead further in the seventh inning with RBI singles from Seth Buchanan and Conrad. Raile contributed his second RBI single of the game in the eighth inning to close out VMI’s scoring.

Stonehill managed to get a runner on base in the ninth but could not avoid being shut out as VMI secured a 7–0 win.

Stonehill will return next weekend to open Northeast Conference play with a three-game series against New Haven beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
