Rosalie Martin, a senior member of the Stonehill equestrian team, shared her personal reflections on her four years at Stonehill in an article published on Apr. 7 as part of the college’s annual Senior Reflections series.
The Senior Reflections series invites senior representatives from Stonehill’s athletic teams to discuss their experiences both academically and athletically during their time at the college. These stories offer insight into how student-athletes balance sports, academics, and personal growth.
Martin said she chose Stonehill for its equestrian team, business department, and location. “Stonehill has shaped me into a confident and resistant person, especially with my role on the equestrian team, pushed me to become a better leader and communicator,” Martin said. She added that learning to balance team commitments with academics and personal life taught her important lessons about time management and focusing under pressure.
Reflecting on memorable moments during her college career, Martin highlighted two achievements: “Academically my best moment at Stonehill was getting inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma honors society for the business school. Athletically my best moment was qualifying for and competing in the Nationals competition in Tryon, North Carolina last year!”
Martin also spoke about lessons learned over four years: “Over the last four years I have learned that I am very resilient and adaptable, and when given the chance can excel if I put my mind to it. I learned how important having and being a supportive teammate is, and how much I value being in a strong community.” Looking ahead to life after graduation, she said she will take with her skills in time management and leadership gained through balancing multiple responsibilities while staying true to her goals.
