Senior attacker Natalie Coutu of the Stonehill women’s lacrosse team was named Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week, according to an April 13 announcement from the conference office.
The recognition comes after Coutu scored a combined 11 goals and provided five assists during two recent victories. She set a new personal record with eight points—six goals and two assists—against Wagner, then matched that total with five goals and three assists against New Haven. In addition to her scoring, she collected two ground balls and caused a turnover in the game against New Haven. Coutu currently leads her team in assists with 21 and is second in both goals (32) and total points (53).
Other members of the Skyhawks also received weekly honors. Freshman Sophia Gouveia was selected as NEC Rookie of the Week for her performance last week, marking her sixth time receiving this award this season. Senior Grace Murphy joined Coutu as one of the NEC Prime Performers.
Gouveia contributed six goals and six draw controls over two games, including four goals against New Haven. She ranks third on Stonehill’s roster for both goals (31) and points (36), while leading in draw controls with 75.
Murphy earned Prime Performer status by scoring ten goals and adding three assists across both games last week. She leads Stonehill in overall scoring with 51 goals and has accumulated 62 points so far this season.
The continued strong performances by these athletes highlight their contributions to Stonehill’s successful run in conference play.
