Murphy leads as Stonehill women’s lacrosse defeats New Hampshire for third straight home win

The Stonehill women’s lacrosse team secured a 14-8 win over the University of New Hampshire on Wednesday at W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Massachusetts. This result gives Stonehill its third consecutive home victory and brings their overall record to 3-3 for the season. The Wildcats from New Hampshire now hold a 2-4 record.

Grace Murphy led Stonehill with five goals and two assists, totaling seven points. Natalie Coutu contributed four goals in the match. Goalkeeper Nina Tremonte recorded 11 saves during the game.

Maia Parker matched her career-high with five draw controls, while Lauren Molinaro picked up four ground balls. Stonehill finished the game with a significant advantage in draw controls, winning 17 compared to New Hampshire’s seven.

Stonehill started strong, building an early lead through goals by Murphy and Parker before New Hampshire evened the score at 2-2. Murphy then added two more goals, with Coutu scoring in between to give Stonehill a three-goal cushion at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Coutu extended Stonehill’s lead, but New Hampshire responded to narrow the gap to one goal before halftime. The Skyhawks maintained their lead throughout the third quarter as Murphy and Coutu scored again, followed by additional goals from Taylor Green and Murphy that increased their advantage heading into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Sophia Gouveia, Maia Parker, and Caitlin Ruggiero added more goals for Stonehill to secure the victory.

Stonehill will play its next game against UC Davis on Saturday, March 7 at 3 p.m. EST.
