Freshman Juli Murillo was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week, according to an announcement from the league on April 7.
Murillo’s recognition comes after her contribution to a successful week for the Skyhawks softball team, which finished with four wins and one loss. The team’s achievements included securing a season series victory over Mercyhurst and sweeping Holy Cross in a midweek doubleheader.
During this stretch, Murillo recorded a .381 batting average. She hit two doubles and drove in six runs over five games. In the final matchup against Mercyhurst, she delivered her best single-game performance by going three-for-five at bat with two doubles and four runs batted in during a 12-6 win.
The award highlights Murillo’s early impact as a freshman and recognizes her role in helping secure key victories for her team.
As conference play continues, observers will watch to see if Murillo can maintain this level of performance throughout the remainder of the season.
