The Attleboro Police Department will host a Drug Takeback event on April 26, inviting residents to safely dispose of unused or expired medications at the police station located at 12 Union St., Attleboro, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The initiative is intended to provide a free and anonymous way for community members to get rid of medications they no longer need. No questions will be asked during the drop-off process.

Proper disposal of prescription drugs is important for public safety and environmental protection. Unused medications left in homes can be misused or result in accidental overdoses, while many abused prescription drugs are often obtained from family or friends’ medicine cabinets. Additionally, disposing of medicines by throwing them in the trash or flushing them can cause environmental harm.

The police department encourages all residents to take advantage of this safe option for medication disposal as part of efforts to keep the community safe.
